Production Kitchen Department
I arrived in Ireland in 2006 and starting working at Freshways as a ‘General Operative’. It was my first time working in Ireland and my first time working in a food factory. I got to know the systems and the procedures quickly and developed a taste for food production and factory life. I was very soon promoted to ‘Quality Controller’ and then to team leader. I really enjoy the daily challenges that food production brings and love to meet them head on! I work with all of the other team leaders to ensure that we are all helping each other along the way to make sure that our customers and consumers get orders. The supervisors are always there to support you and I really feel that I’ve the help and encouragement to achieve both the company targets and my own personal goals.
Supply Chain
I joined Freshways in May 2023 as a Quality Assurance person and have since progressed through Supply Chain into Procurement and also support the Supply Chain team as a Senior Planner. In my current role, I’m involved in coordinating planning activities, aligning demand and supply, and helping ensure smooth day-to-day operations. What stands out to me is the company’s genuine commitment to developing its people. At each stage of my journey, I’ve been given the opportunity to take on new challenges, build my skills, and grow into more responsibility with strong support from the team. It’s great to be part of a collaborative environment where you’re encouraged to contribute, take ownership, and make a real impact.
Human Resources
I joined Freshways on a part-time basis, at a time when the Human Resources department was a small team. Since then, the department has grown, and I now work in a near full-time capacity. This progression reflects the continued development and expansion of the company. As Payroll Officer, I am responsible for ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time. In addition to my core responsibilities, I take great pride in supporting employee engagement initiatives, helping to organise events such as our annual Christmas party, Halloween pumpkin carving competition, and a variety of seasonal treats throughout the year. What I value most about my role is the people I work with. I am part of a collaborative and supportive team that works closely together while maintaining a positive and enjoyable workplace environment. Our office operates an open-door policy, welcoming employees throughout the day with a wide range of queries—from applications to administrative support. While it can be fast-paced, we are committed to ensuring that everyone leaves with their needs addressed. At its core, our role in HR is to ensure the smooth running of the company, provide support and development paths for our colleagues, and maintain a safe, efficient, and positive working environment.
Transportation and Distribution
I joined Freshways in June 2022 as a Stock Controller, where I worked for two years gaining strong experience in inventory management and daily operations. During this time, I developed a solid understanding of stock control processes and the importance of accuracy and efficiency in supporting the wider business. After that, I have been working closely with the Sales Team, focusing on coordinating deliveries, supporting transport planning, ensuring accurate logistics administration, and helping to maintain smooth and efficient distribution operations, while ensuring customer satisfaction. I am excited to apply all the experience I have gained so far. I bring with me not only my knowledge from Freshways in the food industry, but also my previous experience in supply chain within the automotive industry in Mexico. This combination allows me to contribute with a wider perspective and continue growing within the company.
Planning & Systems Team
Starting 20 years ago at Freshways, I learned that by staying open, being curious, learning from people and helping people, embracing change as an opportunity, you can grow in a fun workplace where people are the biggest asset and extra effort is truly appreciated and rewarded.
